On Friday, June 12, 2026, Assisi will take center stage at one of the most exciting events on the motorsport calendar: the 1000 Miglia — the “most beautiful race in the world” — will wind through the historic town center with its stunning vintage cars.
This year the passage carries an extra special meaning: 2026 marks the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis, Patron of Italy, and the organizers have chosen Assisi as the symbolic stage of the fourth day of the Roma–Rimini leg.
The Route Through Town
The historic vehicles will arrive from Santa Maria degli Angeli along Viale Patrono d’Italia, pass in front of the Basilica of Saint Francis and climb up to Piazza del Comune — the medieval heart of Assisi — before exiting through Porta Perlici towards Gubbio, where a lunch stop is scheduled.
The spectacle will last several hours: a procession of vintage cars from the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s slowly parading along the cobblestone streets. A rare occasion to experience up-close from a window or while strolling through the town center.
